anytime really, although it is know that spring and summer are the worst, but if a homeowner never rid their dog of fleas the fleas will live there forever and your dog can catch fleas from that animal.
Fleas are very hard to get rid off. I had an investation in my basement for about 4 months. See fleas bread and lay eggs those eggs can stay (dormant) until a host (you, dog or cat) comes by. The egg turns into a flea and jumps on the host and bites it and then the cylcle goes on and on.
It took me a long time to get rid of the fleas, bombing my basement every month with Raid Flea and Egg Stuff vacuming, I got my pets frontline to prevent more, oh my my my.

Fleas are a year around problem. They are worse in the spring and summer. The best thing you can do is protect your animals with Advantage, Advantix or Frontline( 3 topical vials for around $36. Protection for 3 months). Make sure you keep up with it every month. If you do find fleas in the house you will have to use a good quality flea bomb. ( cheap ones do not work). Also they do have a pill for fleas but it only last 1 day and it is around $3 per pill. So that is pretty expensive. There is a yard spray you can get to use in the yard to protect against fleas also.

The CAN get fleas anytime of year, especially if there are fleas in the house... They most USUALLY get fleas in the warmer months of late Spring through the early Fall.

They can get fleas all year round. It is true they are generally less prevalent in winter but they still like to live inside our homes where it's warm so your dog should be on flea preventative all year round.

Right after the snow melts. The spring thaw usually brings them out in droves. I give my dogs and cats the flea drops from spring thaw until October.

"Flea season" is usually in the late summer and early fall.
Keep in mind that depending on where you live, fleas can be a year round problem.
Please get your dog on monthly flea preventative.
