Look at the bottom right of your screen; do you have a little speaker icon? If so, this means that the driver is installed but may not be working properly or it could be your speakers. If you can double click on it and open it and adjust any of the settings then it's not the driver.

On the other hand, if you have the recovery CD for your emachine, then you can simply reinstall the driver from the CD. Just find the tools directory and it should be under something like sounds or driver directory.

If you don't have a recovery CD, then you should be able to download a driver form the manufacturer. Good luck.

One more thing to try. Go to the system icon and find the hardware settings. Look for the "sounds" icon, click on properties and make sure that the driver is enabled. Sometimes if there is an error somewhere, it will become disabled.

There are many things that could be wrong; therefore, you have to narrow it down. First of all, open the start menu and goto control panel. Open your sounds and audio devices and make sure the volume is not muted. Secondly go into speaker volume and make sure that is not set to zero aswell. Thirdly, check the audio tab and make sure you have a default sound playback device. If none of this applies to you then right click on My Computer and select Manage. Once the window opens select Device Manager from the list and another list will generate on the right. Expand "sound, video and game controllers," and make sure your audio/sound card is present. Be sure not to mistake it for any drivers or other onboard devices. Right click on your audio/sound card and go into properties. From there click troubleshoot and see if that solves any issues. If for any reason your sound card is not present in that list, then go back to control panel and run "Add Hardware" from which your sound card might be detected if it is missing. If you are missing your sound card and the add hardware option doesnt solve your problem, then you may want to aqcuire the original drivers needed to support sound on your computer. Also, if the above does not apply to you, try rolling back a sound driver that you lastly installed by right clicking on My Computer, selecting Manage, bringing up the device manager, right clicking properties on your sound card and clicking roll back driver under the driver tab. If nothing mentioned above solves your problem, try searching internet forums with your diagnosis.

Ah, I see your control panel says no audio device found. Try going to control panel and trying add hardware. If that does not work then either use your recovery cd if you have the original sound device that you got with your computer, or use the cd given with an external audio device.
