okay, so i have liked this girl in school since the beginning of the year. it seemed to me that she liked me because she would come out of nowhere and ask a silly question or a love tap here and there and other stuff. so i asked her out and she said no. she said she already had a boyfriend and i wasn't her type. dang. well then we had little conversation from there. but then we became really good friends again. and the same ol' flirts are happening to me. but during our "non-social" time i asked her best friend out and she said no. now im not too sure if i should go back towards the original girl. i really find it confusing that she says she doesn't like me but flirts with me constantly. i have at a school event i had bought her something she wanted and asked me to buy for her.
so my question is does she like me? and if she does should i try to ask her out again?
p.s.
i have never seen or heard of this boyfriend she said she has.
plus, im 14 and in 8th grade

Some girls get a kick out of keeping a guy panting for them, even if they don't want him. It's an ego boost. What can I say? Sometimes girls suck ;)

Sounds like you're dealing with a classic case of commitment phobia! I can tell you from personal experience that girls like your crush will flirt all day long-- but never want a relationship. Why? She just likes the attention you're giving her. She probably did make up a boyfriend to keep you from questioning her behavior.
Next time she tries to flirt with you, call her out on it. Ask her politely not to be flirtateous with you if she's not interested in a relationship. If she says she's just "being friendly," let her know that you appreciate her friendship, but since you have feelings for her, she needs to stop encouraging them. You may have to discontinue your friendship-- at least for a little while-- until she can control herself.
Don't be surprised at her behavior, honey. I guarantee you will run into a lot of girls like this in high school and even in college. You're 14, you've got your whole life ahead of you :) Just wait it out, and I bet you'll find that good, honest girl you really deserve.

Either she really actually likes you and is too shy to admit it, or she's just a big flirt. Try asking her out again, and see if she'll muster up the courage to say yes.

No. She doesn't like you. She just knows that you do and that you will give her the attention she likes. And now that she got you to buy her something...she knows she's got you wrapped around her teenage finger. Basically, she's playing you because you let her and you know how.

Some girls say they dont like you because they get teased by other girls. but she may feel safe with you and just wants to be friends. that is ok... I married my bestest friend over 25 years ago and we are still best friends...

I'm 14 too BTW. And she could just be very flirtatious and she is teasing you. I would ask her just like plainley "Why do you flirt with me if you say you don't like me?!" and wait for her to answer and if she doesn't. Just say "STOP MESSING WITH MY MIND, WOMAN!"

Okay my Friend ...let me tell you that some girls acted hat way ..okay she acts like she likes you because of what she dose around you and flirts and stuff like that ...well have you ever tough that that's her personalty and that's the way she acts to many people maybe its that .maybe she just likes the fact hat your her Friend and she likes Friends. so i guess just be cool around them and just go and have fun with them .

some people just flirt and don't mean anything by it. or maybe she's trying to manipulate you. i would make myself distant to her if her behavior is bothering you.
