we have a 99 plate focus with 46k on the clock.how can we pep it up a bit for some more zoom without crazy mods please??oh,its a 1.6 zetec

drop a 1.7 puma engine in. or a 1.8/2.0 focus engine.
should be a straight swap for the 1.7, not sure about 1.8/2.0 as i think they are zetec E engines not the zetec SE that is proberly in your focus.
a bluefin chip will work wonders with a stainless exhaust and K&n filter.

If that is too wild, then just do a CAI (cold air intake), a catback system, and maybe a header if they make one.
You could also do a ECU upgrade if you can find one for the 1.6. From what I have seen, most of those have been for the 2.0, but just do some searching for a while. I mean if I can find one for my 1.5L Kia Rio, there HAS to be one for a 1.6L Zetec.

You won't be able to do much within a reasonable budget.
Although you might be able to fit a sports exhaust and maybe remap the ECU, this would probably cause your insurance premiums to rocket. Not really worth it for the small performance benefit.

cold air kit or at least take off the air silencer and use pre-heater hose to form your own coldair kit. get rid of cats, exhaust. go to fordracing.com for upgrades to differential, transmission, computer, injectors they have superchargers too..
