I have a Chihuahua who is a very picky eater. When I first got her she was on Nutro, but she stopped it eating it. So, my vet sugggested I buy her Royal Canin for Chihuahua's. She loves it, and if you have any other dogs they have other breed specific foods. It is a little more money than a lot of dog foods for the amount you get, but it is worth it. You can find it at any Petsmart.

I feed Canidae to my dogs,it is a holistic food and it is an all stage food.
Here are a few more that are good: Solid Gold, Wellness, Timberwolf Organics, Innova, and Artemis Fresh Mix, there are several more but these are really good. They may be a bit pricey initially but they come out cheaper because you feed less. These are 100% human grade dog food with NO corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions, fillers or by products – and naturally preserved.

The link I have provided sells dog food online but you can also look up the ingredients (on this site) to any of the ones I have listed plus any other dog foods you may be interested in, they have many brands listed.
The best thing you can do is research the different brands. Meat should be the first ingredient and the foods should NOT contain corn, wheat, soy, beef or by-products and it should also be made from human grade ingredients.

I feed my chihuahuas a dry kibble called Royal Canin Sensible Choice Natural Blend. They have eaten this food for about 5 years or so with no problems. I have a very picky older dog who only eats this brand and won't even touch wet dog foods.

Hey there. Here are 2 web site links that willl help you evaluate your dog's food. Pedigree does not rate very well - when you read the ingredients list, a good dog food will not have corn and chicken by-product as the first ingredients.

My personal favorite is Flint River Ranch Trout and Potato formula. My Weimaraners love it and their stools have improved drastically since I switched. They also have no allergic reactions which they have had with other "premium" foods (i.e. Science Diet and Nutro Natrual Choice). No matter which brand you choose, read the labels and choose a brand with the highest quality (human-grade) ingredients and no by-products or fillers (like corn). Your pooch is worth it and I hope he gets better soon.

After this latest recall on dog food I started making my own dog food. Meats, veggies, startchs eggs. Takes a little longer but at least I know my dogs aren't going to die from eating their food.

For wet food, I cook for our Schipperkes. Since I took my mature Schippy off of canned food (around 5 years ago), she has stopped having seizures, when she used to have the around once every 6 weeks or so.
For dry food, we get them Blue Buffalo - it's got organic and natural food ingredients in it, and is very good. Plus they love it.
It really isn't all that much work to cook for your dogs. I make a really big batch around once eery 6-8 weeks, and freeze the portions.
The best source for recipes for home-made dog food is this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Pitcairns-Complete-Guide-Natural-Health/dp/157954973X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7294376-3792044?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1174520526&sr=8-1
And it has very good advice on general health questions and concerns.

normally if you ahve your pet on a particular type of food for a long oerior of time and switch them quickly nad not gradually (i understand you didnt have a choice....you can ween him off poison food, lol) then they get upset stomachs and dont wanna eat. I would suggest science diet adult for your littl pooch, it is full of nutrition, and very tasty, you can get it at your local veterinarian office or at a petco, i have found in food switches this one is more favorable. Good luck
