Hello
Sorry to hear about your headaches.
If your vision is OK, get tested, they sound like cluster headaches. My husband had a spate of these, exactly as you described.
Check this site out then print it off and take it to your DR. My hubbie was prescribed some special pain killers. and touch wood has not had them since.

Those are fun, I had that problem few years ago. I was seeing a neurologist, he put me on nortriptylene(sp), it's an antidepressant but mainly used for chronic pain. It eventually helped, somewhat anyway. Are they taking Tylenol or ibuprofen regularly? If so, that can have a reverse effect and actually cause chronic headaches when you don't take them. They're best bet is to find a neurologist who is familiar with or specializes in headaches, or even check into a headache clinic. I've seen a few of those pop up around some major cities. They'll be able to diagnose exactly what type of headache it is-migraine, cluster, chronic, etc. and offer treatment options based on that.

I would get a second opinion.
Although some headaches/migraines are nothing, some turn out to be something. They are a sign of so many things so I won't start telling you what you have when I don't know.
So if I were you, I wouldn't let it go.

Don't wish to scare ya but headaches can in very rare instances be the sign of a severe neurological condition.
My flat mate from Uni started getting severe headaches when she lived in London. Severe to the point of not being able to move/get dressed/function at all. Her sister had to move in with her.
Her GP kept dismissing her but when she went home to Ireland her doctor she knew growing up immediately spotted the deterioration in her whole demenour/appearance and sent her for a scan which showed that she had a tumour.
Unfortunately she died at the age of 29.
Even though had the London Gp diagnosed her earlier, little could have been done, the fact he didn't I think is not mallicious but just indicative of the fact that out of say for example 20,000 people bemoaning severe headaches in your surgery, there will be 1 who does need further enquiry and spotting that one is not always easy.
Chances are that your own headaches are not life threatening although difficult to live with but get it checked out anyway and if in doubt or they get worse DO push for a second opinion or further investigation.
All the best anyways..

I dont no where u live but in the UK we've got this stuff that u rub on your forehead to ease headaches. I think its actually called "4head". It gives a weird sensation as it makes your forehead go all cold and tingly but it works! Its especially good for headaches just above or behind the eyes like u say u've got. Hope u get rid of your headache soon! x x

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

You must see another doctor or make an appointment to see an optician, right away. You should not have headaches as severe as you are having, and should not be self medicating. Please get this sorted out immediately, it is probably nothing, but best to be sure.

I don't think you have dementia, but you should get them checked out by a different doctor. Especially if they are specifically located in one area, all the time. See if your regular doctor can refer you to a neurologist and they can give you a better evaluation.
If it is bad enough go to an Emergency Room and see what they can offer.
Good luck.

Sounds like migraine headaches, I get them.
There are medications specifically for migraines, although you have to go to the doctor to get them prescribed(they are a little on the pricy side).
Hope this helps.
