HI
A logical answer that can be found in the bible is #1 selfish desire, #2 the anxieties of life can separate you from God, #3 fear of persecution being ridiculed in the public #4 lack of Faith from not studying his word or the bible. #5 Holding on to the desires of the flesh such as material, # 6 a slave to your secular job which sucks up all your time. God fulfills our needs more than wants, everyone has a need for knowledge and he has preserved that in the Bible, his servants of old left a record of their lives and experiences in the Bible to help us lead a life that is in accordance to God, there are good examples to led our lives by and bad examples that shows us we can displease God and we need this knowledge to live a good life. You may hold onto material objects and false beliefs that inable you to serve God in a desirable fashion, Need more let me know. Sounds like you are writing a paper or something.

I don't necessarily believe that we do not desire God himself I think our nature puts our wants and our worldly desires first. I can't speak for everyone but I have had discussions about this with teens before and we are basically pretty self centered. It is in our nature to put ourselves as #1. It takes alot of prayer and practice to be able to put God first. It also takes a relationship with the Father, these things happen over time and are second nature to the flesh.
Now, we are made in God's image so once we have been saved that part of (the spirit, the part of us that becomes Christ like and perfected) of us does desire God and a personal relationship ahead of all the wants. It is just that the flesh always tries to cut in.
I don't know if that helps you at all. I hope I did not confuse you any.

Well, this question requires mathematical process to figure out.

Well, you are trying to find out what keeps you from desiring God Himself. From this I can figure out that

1. You are a Catholic
2. You like fish.

Therefore, the answer must not equal fish (let's call that fish) and that the answer must not be considered gay. Or feminine.

Let's call you x. So thus...

x≠fish

Also, you say that the answer (we will call Boris) keeps you from desiring God Himself (we will call Lama) over the benefits of using God to fufill your wants (we will call seven). So thus...

Boris≠Lama/Seven

Therefore, this must be good. And since you want to kill Buddhists, you don't like Lama. So thus you like seven. And therefore we can conclude that

x=seven

And therefore you are seven. Which also means that you are the benefits of using God to fufill your wants. Thus you want yourself. Which means that you are breaking your own religion (you are coveting), and therefore will be burning in hell when you die. Therefore the answer is...

x=On Fire

The true answer is that you are on fire. Get some water.

"like thought-provoking" but not actually though-provoking?

"using God to fulfill my wants" ?

Is that what the Christian God is for - fulfilling wants?

Can he get me a new truck?

If you possess God you possess everything!

So if your only desire is God, and God grants you that desire then you have everything.

John 4:16. "And we have known and have believed the Love which God have to us. God is love: and he that abides in love abides in God, and God in him."

Thus if you hold hold unto God for the benefits or a piece of the pie you actually miss out on all the pie!

Take that question to God, He'll help you answer it. No one here can answer for your thoughts.

Answer: Atheism, and you are using "God" as a tool to manipulate those around you who believe. Many politicians do this.
