I'm living the good life without church, no prayers at night, no giving thanks at meals. I have the good life without religion and no, I will not be going to hell for not believing in Christianity. If God is all powerful, why would he bother with one individual person? If God is so forgiving, why would he send people to Hell at all? Most importantly, how can you prove that God is not the same person as the Buddha or Thor or any other diety just under a different name?

I would be careful to say "living the good life" it sounds an awful lot like a gospel of prosperity. I would argue that life get harder when you become a Christian. It becomes harder not because of all of the rules that you now have to follow or even necessarily because of persecution (although a lot of people are) but because due to our faith in Christ we are compelled by what He has done for us to be obedient and trusting wholly on Him. He asks as a response to His life saving grace that we let ourselves be downplayed and that His name and His action and His spirit in us His children. That's hard. It means different things for everyone but for some that means changing careers, staying a very challenging marriage, or switching your whole life around to become a missionary in the middle of nowhere. We are given the most precious gift we can be given and in response we are to give our ENTIRE lives. I'm not saying it's not a great life but it is HARD. Matthew 5:48 says "You must be perfect--just as your Father in heaven is perfect." Jesus knows we all fail as well but He also has very high expectations of our reliance upon Him and our obedience to His will.

true story:
about 6 years ago, I was sad and very depressed. I was a single mom of 2 kids, left my ex because of abuse and moved home to my mom. I lost my job because of my ex and had nothing.
I went to a baptist church up the street from my mom and the people there looked down upon me, made me feel like crap. They didn't like the fact I had two kids from two different dads.
I quit going.
I started dating a man that was catholic and I wanted to see what catholic was like, I stopped off with just me and my kids at St. Johns. I walked in a wonderful woman greated me and my children with open arms.
I just cried my eyes out. I didn't even make into the church, she talked to me out side and let me kids play.
Then I got a job and bought a house and continued to go to church there. They helped me get on my feet with food and clothing for my kids.
Today, I still go to St. Johns and owe alot to Sister Anna Marie, my children go to school there.
So yeah, I live the good life.

I am not Christian and I have a very good life. I spend time each day in meditation and give thanks for the many blessing bestowed upon me. Each day my life seems richer than the day before...it doesn't take church to have this.

What I can't figure out is why God is doing amazing things in Christians' lives, but isn't helping them with their spelling, grammar, and punctuation. There seems to be a trend....
