The best thing to do is use a high gloss sealer for the slate which you can purchase from a reputable flooring shop or you can go to a place that sells brick and stone for the construction industry, or Home Renovation place such as Home Depot. The former places are able to answer any questions unlike Home Depot.

I use an acrylic floor finish on my brick floors. But before you try this on slate, talk to floor people. I could care less about my brick, but slate is higher quality and I'd hate to ruin it for you.

No. Go to a ceramic tile shop and ask if they recommend anything for that.
