In some ways, you just answered your question. If there were only innocent babies and animals on the earth, there would have been no need of sending a flood. It was what the adults were doing that caused the need of starting over. I have read some Bible commentaries that described what happened when the people were engaging in idolatry. Some really awful things were going on in the name of religion, including breaking the law of chastity in every single way you can imagine, as well as ways you probably cannot even imagine, including bestiality, physical abuse of adults, teenagers, children, and even babies. Also, you have to remember the people were warned for hundreds of years to stop doing what they were doing, but they did not. If God could have done so, I am sure He would have saved the babies and the animals, but remember it is the responsibility of adults to take care of their stewardships (their children and their farm animals) in a responsible way, and apparently they were not. You can look up the word "bestiality" and idolatry to learn more. Baal and Ashtoreth were just a couple of the idols who had very strange rituals associated with them. Also, because Jesus Christ brought about the Atonement later on, all of God's creations will be resurrected again, so none of them were ever "lost."

When you do as God commands, He is bound to live up to the promises He said He would do. If you don't adhere to God's commands, then He is bound to do what He said He would do if you didn't. When the whole earth is ripe with iniquity, or there is so little good in the world that allowing innocents to live in it would not allow them even an opportunity to choose the right, then He must "destroy the whole world" and start over so that the innocents can at least have a fighting chance to choose the good over the bad. So while He did destroy the bad because He was bound to do so (ie He had to abide by His own laws), He also had to create a place where the innocents could live and have the opportunity to choose.
Imagine how bad it must have been, for that to have happened. Then consider how bad the world is now, and how much worse it must have been then, considering we're all still here.

How? Lots of rain, and water also came up from inside the earth's crust. There were probably also earthquakes all over the place, maybe that even lowered the height of many land masses at the same time as raising the water level.
I'll ask Him when I get there, (heaven), but if you really want to know how He did it, you'd better make sure you get there too.

Well a lot of people were sinning so he had to destroy them. I do not know why he had to destroy EVERYONE but Noah(did i spell it right?)and his family and 2 of every animal. I'm sure there were still plenty of other good people on earth who he did not have to destroy. And the story of Noah's ark is true.

Who said this happened? One Religion out of.......a zillion???? Jesus Christ on a cross......................oooopppppssss, did I say that outloud?.....Anyway..........................
Religions have managed to numb the minds of people who should have more sense than to believe this crap.
When you figure out who God is, let the rest of us in on it, please?
As a species we must first get past Religion and seek truth to the very Nature of Reality, then purhaps, we can start thinking about who made what , when and why. We aren;t close yet, not even.

According to the Bible, babies are born with sin (Adam's) and animals are worthless since God gave man dominion over them.....
Not a very loving God at all.
