OK, here is a quick run down.
We lived together in the city, and recently got jobs in the country and moved in with my mother. He didnt like his job (working in a slaughter house). His grandmother back home is sick (i dont think she has got long to live), and his cousin tried to kill himself (and nobody bothered to tell us about it).
He has a history of ADHD and depression, and the other night he flipped out and drove off in the car like a mad man. I suggested he take the next day off work and see a doctor. He was prescribed anti depressants.
He had to see the nurse at his work the following day, and he told her he was feeling a bit stressed, and then that afternoon, his boss told him he was no longer required at work.

I am worried about him.... what can I do to help?
Any DECENT suggestions would be great.

Depression is very real and can have devastating results, so you need to get help. One step is to understand what depression IS. Depression is best thought of "negative thought patterns taking over your mind". I don't know what causes it, but that is basically what it comes down to. I've been there. I know. Try this book, just read the first 50 pages: "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy" by Dr. David Burns, 1980, about $8.95 in paperback at any major bookstore. It's the ONLY thing that helped me beat the severe depression I was in. And I had tried everything! I'm lucky I'm still alive. But I beat it. But it doesn't happen overnight, it takes a long time to beat it. Try to get your man to look and think about things POSITIVELY. Many depressed people see only the NEGATIVE sides of things. You have no idea, yet, how bad this can get. But it is VERY REAL. Don't mess around, you are going to need MORE than drugs to solve this. Do NOT allow the patient to wallow in negativity. Anything that is positive will help. ANYTHING. Act now, before it's too late.

Since he hated his job, it is probably best for his mental health that he isn't there anymore, I am sure he couldn't function anymore because of his depression. Hopefully, with the help of living with your mother, he can take some time off to get his mental condition together. Try to not put pressure on him right now to get a job right away. Let him have some time to get on his medication and get the effects of it. Stay supportive of him. When he feels better, hopefully he will be able to find a job he will be happier with. Wish you the best.

He has alot of external stuff happening, he is very lucky to have you as support. Anti-depressants take two to three weeks before any benefit can be noticed. Keep an eye on his moods and if you become very worried about him, seek medical help for him immediately.
