I got a JVC KD-G220 car head unit installed in my 1995 Saturn, and all of a sudden it stopped working. Help?

I have already checked the fuses and cleaned the unit and did everything that was in the manual for the stereo. I was not listening to music at an outrageous level. All other electrical in the car works, and replacing the fuses has no affect on the problem. Thank you very much.

Okay, I know you said you already checked the fuses, but the common problem in these Saturns is a 5-amp fuse in the vehicle fuse box. This is the constant power fuse for the radio, and it may not be labeled as a radio fuse. I also know you said that everything else electrical in the car works, but many people don't notice when this fuse blows; its other function is the vehicle's door chime. If you no longer get a chime with your key on and the door open, then look for the chime fuse.

If you find that fuse to be the problem, then you can replace it to get the radio to work again. I don't usually advise people to replace vehicle fuses with larger sizes, so the permanent fix is to disconnect your radio's yellow constant power wire from the factory harness, run it down and tap it into the constant power feed wire for the cigarette lighter. This is on a 15-amp fuse so you won't blow it with the radio.

If it turns out I'm wrong and the fuse is good, then use a test light or voltmeter to check voltage on the red wire and the yellow wire at the back of the radio (with the key on). Also make sure the radio's black ground wire is still connected. If you find around 12 volts on both wires, yet the radio won't turn on, then you have a defective radio.
