don't worry about it. lots of people think their voice sounds retarded. the people who love to hear themselves speak are preachers or politicians. if anybody makes a negative comment about it, they're retarded. plus, people you talk to quit noticing your voice soon after you start talking.

Try recording yourself and listening to exactly what you think is wrong with your voice. Your voice travels through your ears through parts of your skull, which is why it sounds different in your head then it does to other people. If it's the tone your voice or the cadence, there are different things that you can do to help. Try reading poetry outloud. Pick one poem (Gerard Manley Hopkins is great, he has a lot of alliteration). Try reciting each line over and over on the recording until it sounds like you want it to. You might also try mimicing another person. Experiment until you find a voice that you think sounds good. It's all a matter of practice. But just keep in mind that you probably don't sound retarded at all, that is just your perception. But if youa re really uncomforable, maybe see a speech therapist or try these and other excercises (there are books on speech and voice modification in public speaking and theater sections in bookstores) and work on it.

If your voice has recently changed in anyway, see your doctor. Voice changes can be indicative of very minor or sometimes very serious problems. If it's the way you've always sounded or if you just heard your voice on a tape recorder, don't stress out. Most of us believe we sound totally different than we actually do. The first time I heard my own voice, it scared me half to death. I couldn't possibly sound like that could I? But alas I do. So we move on. But heck, I always thought I sounded like Ben Cartwright. What a bummer.

I have a high pitched scream when I say, fall for instance, and it makes me laugh so hard, even when I lay there, that I can't stand it...it is so stupid...we are just stuck with certain things we don't like sometimes, and outside of taking testosterone, to lower our voices, I think we just have to concentrate on our good qualities...lol....we are also our own worst critics..and betch cha, you're the worst about it on yourself! I HATE my voice when I fall, but in a way, because it makes me laugh, maybe that is a good thing...God Bless

Everyone's voice sounds different in their head than it does if you, say, record it then play it back to you. I don't like hearing my voice played back to me. I don't think many ppl do!

It would not sound like its a speech concern, you have only in all risk harm your vocal chords with all those tantrums and screaming. decrease down on the screams and your voice would desire to alter into 'favourite.'
