I am working on a reasearch paper and need some public opinion. This survey is only 15 questions. I did also just post this in the survey and polls section, so don't be upset if you've seen it twice. Thanks for your help.

This graph shows the lift prior to, and after a stall. Obviously, at the very instant the airflow over the wings seperates, you may not be losing lift completely, but I think this shows that within another half to full degree of AoA, you lose way more than 10-15% of lift.

I would like to see how you came up with that number, or if you just pulled it out of the air. I spoke with several CFI's after I read your response, and none of them have heard that number, and I certainly never heard it going through my CFI training.

What does it mean when an aircraft “stalls?”
-The engine has quit producing thrust.
-The wing has stopped producing lift.
-The landing gear failed to extend.
-Radio communication has been lost.

None of the above. An airfoil does not STOP producing lift durind a stall; it loses about 10-15% of its lift. If an airfoil stopped producing lift which is the only thing opposing weight you would only have weight and fall like a ton of bricks. Think about it. Other than that decent survey.

Decent quiz but it didnt allow for a "some" answer, like I was forced to put no on the "do you know how many backups each system has on an airliner" because I am not trained in most of the airliners and the number differs... anyone who put yes must be type certified for every airliner as my interpretation... also, a little surprised by the answers of most dangerous portion of flight, you may be surprised to find that more injuries occur in cruise from clear air turbulance than any other portion of flight...

Done and nice quiz and I agree partly with ALOPILOT that the "Dont Know" option should have been given for some of the questions.

Interesting thing is that the majority of the answers reflect the same or near same thoughts, but you find so many dumb questions and answers in this forum!

Intersting survey. There wasn't a wind shear option so I put down wind instead. You may also want to post this in the travel section under air travel
Post the results when you get them

Good survey. I think by posting in "aircraft" as well, you'll get a lot of answers from people that know the facts on aircraft. Average people don't always know the truth about the planes they fly in.

I agree with the guy who stole my ID...

The general knowledge of people on this aviation forum will probably skew your results somewhat. You might get a different result if you survey people on the travel boards.

That was interesting. Funny to see that some people believe that if the engine quits you are going to crash.
