Can anyone help me figure out the surface and subversive meaning to the line "Like A Skull Shaped Balloon, I Still Believe In Us"?

So, that's what it said on one of the Blood Brothers' album covers, right? How can you explain what they were talking about? They have the most random song lyrics! "Like a skull shaped balloon, I believe in us" might just be some sort of mumbo-jumbo that they came up with that wasn't meant to be read into ... or you could dissect it and talk about how brief life is and how we should live every moment to its fullest and appreciate the people around us .... I don't know. Good luck!

perhaps its saying they are an "airhead" for still believing in something so obviously doomed.
