My dog will not let her nails get cut. I took her to the groomers and the lady said she could not cut my dog's nails. The lady at the groomers told me to take her to an animal hospital and they will cut them there so I took my dog there today and they told me they could not cut my dog's nails. It is a big problem because my dog gets very nervous when someone tries to cut her nails and she just doesn't let anyone touch her nails. What should I do?

To tell you the truth, most dogs would rather you leave their paws alone. Unfortunately, they don't wear down their nails and they must be cut.
Most groomers can handle a difficult dog for nails I would try another place. If not, the dog can be sedated and the nails can be cut real short by the Vet.
After the Vet takes care of your dog's nails, you could try to desensitize your dog by touching it's feet alot. That's how we get poodles to settle down. They have to have their paws clipped every month when they are groomed.

You have to earn the Dogs Trust and Respect before it will not be nervous about getting its nails cut....... Did you or someone else try to cut the Dogs nails at some point and cut them to short, which caused them to Bleed???? Generally a dog will let you cut them but you have to be careful not to cut them back to far and cause them to Bleed..... Try a different Vet until you find one that will do it.....They may have to put the Dog to sleep for a little while to cut its nails......

NO do no longer use popular clippers you will possibly no longer understand how some distance to decrease the canines clippers have a plate that forestalls you from going to some distance and reducing the quik, siccors, %@#$ NO they might extremely mess a canines up considered one of my friends tried that and rather of clipping the canines nails it slipped extremely quickly grew to become the nail side-techniques and the puppy moved decrease back and the siccors hung directly to the nail and it yanked the nail splendid out of the socket

Start by always fondling her paws and massaging the claw area. Gradually let her sniff and smell the scissors and get used to you just touching her paws with them. She must learn NOT to associate pain with them. Gradually mimic the cutting action with her WITHOUT cutting. It may take a long time, but the more often you GENTLY make her confront her fear, the easier it will become. Bonne chance.

your vet should be able to provide your dog with a sedative for you to give prior to bringing her in for the nail trim. If that doesn't work your vet may actually have to put her under anesthesia.

Play with your dogs paws to get her warmed up to have people touch her paws. Don't try to clip them just rub them, and I take my dog to petsmart.
