I can't stand the taste of lo salt, but have noticed sea salt in a lot of recipes. I don't dislike the taste of it, but wondered if it was better than using ordinary table salt.

yes, its much better. I quit using table salt when I learned how it is processed (chemicals and animal bones) and it has anti caking agents in it. I love sea salt, and just a little goes a long way

Salt as far as sodium is salt be it from a sea or a mine. Salt that has been, well, "salted" with iodine is a different matter.

Sea salt is better if it contains its minerals. The content and amount of such minerals depends upon its refinement.

I have read that the U.K. is one of the last countries in the world that doesn't put iodine into its salt. Before I get a bunch of angry emails, this was old information and I don't know or rather, haven't been able to support that the U.K. doesn't actively put iodine in its salt supply.

But, if this were true and/or is true, there would be an increase in goiters and other such illnesses associated with iodine or the lack there of.

The second site I've listed will give you more information than you knew possible or want to know about salt.

So, yes, in my opinion, sea salt is better than table salt, if it has its minerals intact. Otherwise, it's just as bad as the garden variety and just as likely to give you high blood pressure, stroke or heart attack.

You may have to pay more for sea salt than ordinary table salt but it is definetly better in taste.

Sea salt has a much better flavor, I use a small fraction of sea salt to achieve better results. However, all salt has sodium, so be careful not to overindulge.

Some stores now carry sea salt grinders, nice gimmic, but if you don't care for the larger texture of typical sea salt grains, you could purchase one of these grinders to refine the size.

Definitely, table salt is full of chemical additives. Your food will taste better with sea salt, fine for the table and coarse for the cooking although I use fine for both.

yeah, sea salt isnt something you can put on popcorn or soups for a dash of taste, stick to table salt for that. but for cooking, either Sea Salt, or Kosher Salt are your best bets.

Supposed to be but don't really know. As the basic chemical formula for all salt is similar the warnings about not having too much would still apply.

realy not much differance but i know i use less sea salt then i do table so i think its better than table salt

Yes, it hasn't been refined, and added to chemically. Try Maldon salt, it's still being made in Maldon, on the Essex coast, in the traditional way. All top chefs recommend it.
