The active ingredient in this is dimenhydrinate. This used to be available in the uk called dramamine (tablets), however these were withdrawn in the uk almost 10 years ago for commercial reasons. They are not really drug of choice.
My personal preference for children is kwells junior. These work within approximately 20 minutes. They are suitable for children over 4 years old and there is also an adult version. They are pleasant tasting chewable small tablets. The active ingredient is hyoscine. This is considered the most effective and drug of choice. They can be bought over the counter at your local pharmacy.

It is not available in UK. Diphenhydramine is only available in colds and flu remedies and over the counter sleeping pills. There are plenty of other antihistamines available however, ask any pharmacist.
