What is the connection between the city of Lincoln and Brussels sprouts?

I would think that the fact that Lincolnshire is such a fertile county, many million tons of them have been grown there.

It is not all that far to Brussels from there anyway
Many Dutch folk settled in the County and Dutch engineers built the Sand Dunes along the coast.

I live just outside of the city of Lincoln and was not aware there was a connection, but I am now quite intrigued as to what answers you may receive on here as I'd now also like to know the answer!!
