Sadly from what I have seen the last few years, people are growing lazier that they can't be bothered looking anything up on their own to check if it is true or not.
I could equally as say that Yahoo Answers was going to shut down in one week's time and I know a lot of people would probably believe that, flood the forums with questions and from there, everyone will start believing it. It's like a contageous virus, once it starts, there is little stopping it.
