I met my boyfriend when i was in italy for the first time. It was love at first sight. We kissed before we even talked and two days later I moved into his apt for the remaining month there. In the next 11 months we spent 3 months together (me there twice and he came to the us once). Then I moved there and we spent the next six months together. In that time we had communication problems, becuase he knew some english and i knew no italian, we were always learning. Other than that things were okay but he didnt encourage me to speak italian and didnt help me with independant life outside of the relationship and apt. I met friends and things were great until one day we were fighting and he slapped me across the face. I slapped him back and went back to the US. Its been 1 month, hes been writing messages saying he wants to get me a job and buy me a ticket back. he admits his mistakes completely saying he never did that before or will again. I love him very much. should i go back?

hes never done anything like this before, but i clearly told him at the beginning of our relationship that i was not tollerant of violence against women. so I think it was more disrespectful. On the other hand, we have an amazing connection and we love being lovers and just friends. We can communicate without words, its just the most genuine relationship ive ever had. Its such a hard decision deciding wether to move back

I dont know...I think that there are instances where the situation can escalate so much and these things happen. If he shows no sign of violence then I would consider it but be highly cautious and aware. I dont know...a slap is a little different from a down right beating. If you honestly think its a one time thing that happened in the heat of the moment then take him back if you really love him and I suggest relationship counseling for the communication issues. Its the best thing. You know him better than anyone. You have spent time with him ( alot). So trust yourself and you know in your gut if he is the violent type. If he is then run. But if hes not then give it one more shot. But if it happens again never look back!

he should not have hit u in the first place, no matter how hot the fight turned.
you have lived with this man,you know the good times and the bad times, do you think the relationship is worth a second chance? u have to search ur mind, u need to know if there is a probability that more slaps would sound across ur face when ever there's a fight, if its a yes, then pls let him go now.

Heck no gurl you should have beat him down the first time he did it. But if he doesn't want you to have a independent life outside of him you need to leave him alone. Pray about it and God will give you some body made for you. Stop rushing into relationships because the dude might be sexy.

as soon as someone hits you, you should be off. I dont think he deserves you back. even if that slap on your face was just something that came out of nowhere, it's something that could happen again. I dont think he deserves a second chance, it doesnt feel worth risking. even if he means a lot to you, take the safe option before the unsafe, for your own sake.

Well I want to say that you make it seem like he's worth another shot it's not promised that he'll never do it again but If he makes you happy and you love him your happiness should come first so go for it,get your man back before some french chick tries to win over.

No reason for a man to smack a woman. It sounds like it started out romantic, but reality is, there is a lot more you have to put into the relationship, if you want to make it work. You have to figure out whether you want to deal with all of it, again. Good Luck!

Do you feel safe there without him? Why did you run home after he hit you? I would not go back,is he willing to come here. I would just hold this love story to your heart, and you can tell your daughter some day about your greatest love.

i never liked the way italian men treated their wives and girlfriends... i was raised around a couple of italian families, and they took whatever liberties they wanted...
i don't know if you "should" go back or not....
i wouldn't.
