If the vet told you fleas, there is your answer. Your cat must have flea allergy dermatitis, and it's only on her spine because that's where the hot spots are.

More than likely it's a skin allergy to the flea medicine...has this hair loss happened before or after treatment? Ignore *The Ho* who answered first by the way, she's just being rude. Anyway, I would call the vet to double check why there is hairloss, make sure you get rid of the fleas on your cat and throughout your home. Try an oatmeal based shampoo, it seems to do wonders for my cats coats and skin. Good luck.

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

Why are you asking us? You should have asked the animal doctor while you were there
