Be sure that the dry food he eats is high in meat protein. Cats are strictly carnivorous and will get sick and die without enough meat proteins.
Most regular store cat food gives the minimum amount of meat in their products. Many cats get sick as a result of this, causing them to vomit regularly.
Cats who are not exposed to meat or wet food as kittens grow up not recognizing that stuff as food and will not eat it. It sounds as if your kitten was raised on dry food.
For a more balanced diet for your veggie and grain-loving feline, I strongly suggest you get some dry food from a specialty pet food store that is high in meat protein. If you're on a budget and can't afford to feed him exclusively the expensive stuff, mix it half and half with the regular store stuff. I do this with my cats.
Even if your cat seems to be doing fine, it couldn't hurt to improve his diet now to cut down on future health problems.

Some cats just don't like the wet meat food. As long as you have him on a complete cat food, he will be fine. However, you do need to cut out the lettuce, potato etc, as these are not at all good for your cat

This is weird really, if your cat lived in the wild he would eat meat. Cats should eat meat! they are not naturally vegetarians.
All i can say is put down meat instead of vegetable matter-if hes hungry he will eat it! try the dry cat biscuits from your local supermarket. I put biscuits and tinned cat food down with a big bowl of water if he gets thirsty.

Choosy little devil! I would take some professional advice though as a cat cannot stay healthy on a vegetarian diet as all cats need a substance called taurine which is only found in meat. It may be that you have to choose a complete dried food - lots of cats live happily on that - but they are getting all the dietary requirements from it.

No it's not weird. Actually when my cat was a kitten she ate anything including meat...she loved tuna and shrimp. I gave her wet food and dry...then the wet food and meat made me sick when I became pregnant so I only gave her dry food. So now besides dry cat food she will only eat breads and sweets, and only the crumbs on my shirt she won't actually eat a chunk of bread or sweets just crumbs. My cat is a weird one though.

My cat really doesnt like chicken - he wont eat chicken flavoured cat food or real chicken. He prefers red meat and loves fish (especially tuna). he also likes bread, cheese, yoghurts, potatoes (goes mental for chips) and dried pasta.
All cats are a bit eccentric its why we love them so much

ALL cats are obligate carnivores - they NEED proteins from animals becuase their stomacks cannot completely digest proteins from vegetables. If your cat seems to dislike meats in canned food, you'd best feed him organic dry cat food, preferably the kind that is mixed with real fruits and vegetables. The aroma of this kind of food will probably entice him to eat the dry food which will contain some kind of animal protein. If you continue to feed your cat nothing but vegetables from your table, you'll end up with a very sick cat. Serious.

I don't think it's weird. My roomate had two cats. One cat loved meat and would only eat meat (and dry cat food). The other cat loved lettuce, cheese and bread like your cat. The lettuce loving cat hated meat and never ate it.

Mine both love broccoli, cheese, crisps (chips), pasta, potato (baked or mashed) one likes left over chinese food and also porridge (oatmeal) and the other likes bread and cakes. They usually eat dried cat biscuits with fish and meat treats.

Its OK for cats to have other things as treats but they must eat a "complete" catfood, either wet or dry. If they don't they will have all kinds of health problems. Lack of taurine will eventually make a cat blind. One of my cats won't eat pieces of meat but she does eat fish and science plan dry food.
