Actually, banks regularly tell other banks about your debts and if you have failed on payments. In fact they have a requirement to do this. They need to ensure that a person doesnt borrow lots of money from lots of banks at the same time, etc.
It may seem like a privacy issue but it protects them and the average customer from fraud, bad risk, making sure that they have enough money to cover their risks, etc.

No. Report that creditor to the Department in your state that governs them.
To your spouse?
Only in community-property states. In SC it is only if your spouse is on the loan.

No they cant, why have you got one on your case getting all heavy handed? just tell them that you've spoken to the financial ombudsman and they say they cant do that - they'll cak themselves.
