You always get them saying this "[Name of belief that isn't christianity] does you family know about your belief?" Ever considered that you aren't the default choice that everyone agrees with (I know that’s what you expect but I though you would have realised it isn’t true) why do you presume that everyone's family will be outraged if their offspring disagree with you? My guess is that these Christians are the same that turn their back on their family members that choose a different faith.

Well, if the person is coming from a non-religious home, then it would make no sense to assume that the family would reject them for adopting a non-Christian belief. The question is usually reserved for people who come from a strong Christian background and are converting to another belief, in which case, it may be a valid question ("How does your family feel about your being a Scientologist?"). Note that it is frequently asked about non-Christian families, as well. A Muslim could certainly ask, "You were raised Muslim just like I was, so how's your family reacting to your becoming a Baptist?" The question also arises from the unfortunate fact that many people have been disowned by their families for switching religions. Sad, but true.

Actually, scripture makes it clear that God wants followers who freely choose Him, not followers who were coerced.

Jesus told His followers to count the cost of following Him, discouraging followers who weren't truly dedicated to follow Him at all costs.

Scripture also mentions God preferring you to be "hot" for Him or "cold" against Him, rather than "lukewarm" (the status of people doing it for social obligatory reasons). Lukewarm was considered worse than cold in terms of response to God.

So I do understand what you're saying, and it's certainly true on some levels, but it mitigates against what scripture teaches.

Why do some people who say no to Jesus always generalize and stereotype all Christians?

May God Bless you.

I am a christian and the only one in my family.
They haven't rejected me.....so they think I'm a bit quirky....but that's to be expected for following Jesus.

You seem to be filled with hate and contempt, release yourself from hate, don't let your misguided perceptions guide your life or views of those you don't know, or at least your yahoo answers user name
