I like cat's better because:
1) They let you know when they want attention and when they want to be alone.
2) Never have to bath them - they bath themelves
3) Know when you have had a bad day and need a lap cat
4) Don't have to take them for a walk to go pee - they can pee and poop in a box (and now there is a self cleaning box)
5) Are quiet animals, don't bark loud.

Dogs and cats are different, they have different personalities. They both have "pros and cons"

Two reasons I, personally am more of a "cat person"

1. No body odor. I love all furries, love dogs to death, but the smell turns me off a litttle. I can dig my nose into my cat's fur and hug it and there's no smell. But a dog...

2. Easier to have indoors. I am totally an indoor pet person. I feel like what's the point having a pet if it's not around you, constantly interacting with you. If I were to have a dog, it would need to be inside with me. That's hard, especially when you live in such a teeny place as I do.

THat's just ME, MY personality, and MY current lifestyle. Everyone's different.

BTW.. If my place was somewhat bigger, I would LOVE to get a dog. BUt like I said, it would have to be inside with me, so in my teeny place, out of the question.

Not to dis on anyone's pets, but I'm not into the yappy (often agressive) toy dogs that ARE small enough to keep inside a small place. If I'm gonna have a dog, the bigger the better. I'd love to get something indoor sized but with the personality of a big dog. Sheltie? But even that's way too big for my tiny apartment. IMO, my place is too small for two cats, but I don't believe in getting rid of pets you've made a commitment to.

Excerpts from a Cat's Diary

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry
nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat
something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of
escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would
strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they
merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards! There was
some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the
duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my
confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it
to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around
his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs. I am
convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special
privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is
obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am
certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an
elevated cell, so he is safe.

For now...

I now have one cat and one dog, but I am still a cat person. The dog is my husband's. Me and the dog love each other very much, but there is something special with me and my cat. Just something about a cat when you hold it and pet it and feel it purr. And when you gaze into each other's eyes. I have had other cats, and they are all different and special.

I have both on an equal level right now. Cats don't like all the attention I'd like to give them, unlike dogs; but cats are easier to take care of.

I have had both cats and dogs. My cats were always like dogs. They came when I called. They learned tricks and played games with me. They sat with me when I watched TV and slept with me when I slept. They didn't scratch up anything. The only difference between my cats and dogs was that I didn't have to take my cats out to go to the bathroom several times a day or walk them. That's a plus.....

I love my cats because they're smart. Sure people say that cats are dumb, but really, if you think about all the things cats do, you'd be amazed. My cat Tiger is a smart girl. I told her I bought her a gift and now we have to wait. Everytime I go to the mailbox, when I get back, she's there looking at me as to say, "Is it here yet?" She's a smart girl. Also, I'm not a big fan of taking pets out in the middle of storms, or summer when its really hot out. BIG plus for the cats there. BUT I do detest and loathe catlitter with a passion. Its why i weasle my husband into doing it :)

I love them all. I won't kill a spider, squash a bug, nothing.

But, dogs are much more high maintenance than cats. They are also much messier and smellier. I can choose to rescue dogs and have a smelly house and be a nuisance to the neighbors, or I can save cats and have neither. I choose cats because I can rescue higher numbers with less disturbance to mine and others' properties.
