If you don't eat, your body will first use its stores of energy. Unfortunately, the protein in muscles are the first place the reserve energy is retrieved from. The fat in your body is the last reserve that is utilized.
Do you really want to become fatigued and weak while waiting for your body to meander towards burning fat?
To directly answer your question, maybe. It would depend on your body and how long you don't eat.
I don't recommend putting yourself through it if you have any choice at all. I was basically anorexic for a couple years. It was never diagnosed, but I didn't have any appetite whatsoever for like three years. Eating was a chore. And it started with innocently skipping a few meals.
Eat. Exercise. If you eat, you'll have energy to exercise, and in turn you burn more energy than avoiding both.

Skipping meals, contrary to myth, does not help you lose weight.

A colleague of mine, Dave Gluhareff, was over weight but active physically. He ate no breakfast, some lunch, and 3-4 servings at dinner. Then he started eating a decent breakfast, lunch and less at dinner as well as taking walks at night. Alas, he lost over 100 lbs.

Same applies to you - don't skip meals. It doesn't help. Eat 4-5 small meals a day include a decent dinner, and be sure to allow time for digestion (3-4 hours). In other words, don't go to sleep right after you eat dinner.

If you are still eating the same portion and types of food for breakfast and lunch, with no extra snacking you will lose weight. It's simple...less calories in means you will lose weight. However, there is a down side. If you don't get enough calories throughout the day your metabolism will slow down and your body will begin to store fat and feed off your muscles, which is always a bad thing. If you eat healthy throughout the day and use a meal replacement for dinner you will do just fine.

I don't eat dinner, but instead have a bowl of cereal so that I don't feel hungry; and still avoid the calories. This helps me reduce my calorie intake and lose weight a little faster. Be sure to get your fruit, vegetables, protein and fiber during your daytime meals and snacks along with plenty of water and you'll be fine.

Those who said you wouldn't lose weight are incorrect. Anytime you eat less than you burn you will lose weight. Be smart and eat properly.

I used to eat not later than 6 pm and I didn't loose weight but i kept my normal weight. I am about 115 lbs. But I used to eat anything trough out the day and a lot. For several months now I eat sometimes at 10pm , sometimes at 2 am, or anytime I want but I can't say I eat more than I used to and I gained a little bit. My answer to your question is yes. But I suggest instead of skipping dinner you have it earlier that 6pm and you will definitely loose weight. Or you will remain it if you are not overweight. In both cases you will feel and look better.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

No. Actually, you could gain weight from it.

When you skip a meal, your body assumes that you won't be eating again for a while. Because of this, it begins to store fat for your body to eat on so that you won't starve to death. Of course, this fat builds up and you could gain weight.

As some of the people above me have said, it's much better, safer, and healthier. For you to eat that meal. There are a few tips I'd like to give you, though. Of course, exercise. Always eat breakfast as it gives your metabolism a jump start. It's wise to eat something with fiber in it for breakfast since it keeps you full longer. I'd tell you why, but you probably don't care too much. Also, eat almost all the time, but eat healthily. I'm talking fruits and veggies for snack in between meals. Eat like 6 or 7 meals a day, but make them small. Drink plenty of water, too. Doctors say to eat about 7 ounces of water every 20 minutes.

I guess I've taken up enough space, so I'll just wish you luck now: Best of luck!

Skipping meals is NOT a good way to lose weight. Yes, you might lose a few pounds at first, but your body needs the calories.

Any doctor you ask would give the same advice: eat 4-5 small meals a day, cut back on sugar and fat content. Don't go totally fat free.....your body needs some fat.

Good luck with your venture to lose weight!

Nope!

It's a common misconception that eating fewer meals per day will make you lose weight. That will actually slow your metabolism down and keep you at your current weight.

If you want to lose weight, excercise, and eat smaller, more frequent meals. Watch your calories. Snack on fruits and veggies inbetween meals. This will keep your metabolism up, thus burning more fat. It's said that you should eat something at least every four hours.

Not necessarily in a health fashion. Depends on what else you are doing.

Generally most people eat three large meals a day. What you could try instead is five to six smaller meals during the day.

When you eat a large meal, your body stores what it doesn't immediately need. If you eat a smaller meal and your body uses it all up with no excess that is better.

So, don't skip a meal - but plan it out.

alot of people gain weight from skipping dinner. to lose weight eat smaller meals throughout the day. make breakfast, lunch and dinner smaller. Get frozen dinners not hungry man or anything like that but things like healthy choice. if you eat all three of your meals in smaller portions rather then eat only two larger meals you will lose more weight and also you wont be so hungry. If you skip dinner chances are you'll be really hungry when you wake up and eat alot of calories without even knowing it
