I have had 3 CBC's within 6 months and each time, my WBC count goes higher and higher. This next blood test I am getting, my Dr ordered a ANA and ESR and LAP Score along with the WBC Count again. Anybody know what these tests are looking for specifically? I have no other known medical conditions.

Hi,

here are a couple of sites for each of the test you are having -

sorry to tell you but they are looking for a couple of things you don't want to have.

BUT !!! - there are a bunch of things that are just abnormal / don't worry items / fix with a med.

But better to know than not:

white blood cells are produced by the body to fight illness .
so if you have high wbc and they keep going up then you have at least some infection. one good thing is that the wbc goes up . if it didn't you would have a damaged immune system

I kind of agree with the first answer. If your doctor tells you everything he is checking for you could get all worked up over nothing. Wait until the results come back then ask him what they were for. I know, it sounds easier then it really is.
