what kind of fine would I get? He has never bitten anyone ever before. The mail man ran and so did my dog. my dog likes to play. He is never loose. I usually have him in the back yard and it is all fenced in. I was wiping off his paws and he got loose.

My dog has never bitten anyone before. I don't have alot of money and can not afford to be taken to court. The dog has all his shots. He isn't licensed though. I was going to go and do that tomorrow. Now I might get a fine for not having him licensed.

Really depends on if the mailman decides to report the dog bite....

Once the bite is reported to Animal Care and Regulation, the owner or the address of reported owner will be visited to verify that the dog has been vaccinated and the vaccination is current.

If the vaccinations are not current, the dog will most likely be impounded by Animal Care staff. Animal Care will quarantine the dog for 10 days from the date of the bite, as required by law.

If vaccinations and licensing are current, the dog may be quarantined at the owner's home, depending on circumstances such as:

* Appropriateness and availability of confinement area
* Cooperation of the owner
* Relationship to the owner (such as family member)
* Severity of the bite
* Address or location of the bite occurrence.

Owned dogs that bite are not euthanized unless the owner signs a euthanasia request or fails to pick animal up after quarantine. Owners are required to pay for the quarantine period which is $12 per day. Owners can pick up their dog after the quarantine period as long as the dog is not deemed vicious by the Animal Care Department. Dogs without known owners are euthanized once they are determined to be biters and if circumstances warrant it.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aUNUF

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

They get junk mail for the next six months.
These things happen. Don't panic. I doubt if the fine will be huge, unless the medical bills are outragious. Was he badly hurt, or just nipped? If he wasn't seriously injured he may not even report it. I would keep a leash on him when there is a way for him to get out, but it really sounds like you did everything you could to prevent it.
