How do I write off california sales tax when I file my fed/state?

I heard so many stories but have not figured it out. Any tips on where or what form I need to fill out for this? Is it under deductions?

For the IRS, It goes on Schedule A, Itemized Deductions. You have a choice of deducting either sales tax or State income tax. In CA, it is likely your income tax will be higher, and therefore should be the deduction.
