We just moved out here from Buffalo, NY. I am looking for a vet for my 2 cats. However, I would really like one that is well versed in feeding cats a more natural raw food diet. Most of the offices I've called don't even know what I'm talking about (I just had a vet tech talk to me for a good 10 minutes about why I shouldn't feed my cats human food (I asked about raw chicken).

Hopefully, there is someone around here who is feeding their kitties a raw diet and have a wonderful vet whom is supporting them every step of the way.

So, since I've gotten nothing but good advice from all my fellow yahoo users in the past, I run to you once more.

Thanks so much!

I don't support feeding cats raw meat. Raw meat can carry bacteria, parasites and other deadly germs. In the wild cats eat meat that is freshly caught, they are not scavengers. So unless you are feeding your cat, chicken that was just killed and has no time for bacteria to form, this is a bad idea.

Arrr! Somewhere along the way I came across a list of holistic vets....let me see if I can track it down again.

You can try this site - enter your search criteria and it'll spit out a list of names.

I know you don't necessarily want a "holistic" vet but I've gotten the impression that they are the ones who are more educated and open-minded as to alternative diets.

I can't give you a personal ref since I'm not in the area, sorry!

Google "veterinarian Van Nuys CA"
and
"veterinary Van Nuys CA"

You'll get scads of choices

Then call em and ask if there are any vets there who have Holistic training.

Knowing California, you will probably have no trouble finding one.
