"And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul." - Genesis 2:7
A man is a soul.
"The soul that is sinning—it itself will die." - Ezekiel 18:4
We're not immortal. "In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.” - Genesis 3:19
What was Adam before he was created? Dust. Where did he go after he died? To dust.
Where was Adam before he existed? Nowhere. Where did he go after he ceased to exist? Nowhere. He just decomposed.

The Genesis 2:7 says that Adam became a soul. This means that we don't have inside of us something that survives after we die. If you read carefully you realise that dust+spirit (breath of life, the spark of life)=soul (man)

Hell (Sheol, Hades)=common grave of the humankind; it's a state (not a place for eternal torture)

As stated by somebody ahead of me when you die your soul (spirit /of you) goes back to the father that created it. Now when you get there what do you find. You find that there are two places and it is divided by a big deep chasm that no one may cross. On one side is the nonbelievers. On the other side are the believers . There is also on the believers side a gate that one must go through to get the rest of the way to where god is. And as you travel towards gods area you are purified. For there will not be in heaven anything that offends.

What happens after we die?

First, some definitions

We: a being with consciousness

Death: end of bodily life.

What happens next: The confusion comes about becasue nothing "happens" in the same sense of asking what happens when you go through puberty. We lose our consciousnes that was attached to our bodies but we still remain as a being. It's the logical conclusion. Our body dies, our consciousness dies, but we as the being that had consciousness, remains. If you said that being dies, then you are mistaking being for the body. We HAVE a body, we HAVE a brain, we are not that body or that brain.

From what I've been shown, it's like regular life but it's not because there is so much more. I've seen members of my family there, brief flashes. We seem to look the same and act the same, but there is something wonderful and unexplainable.

No there is no "regular life" after you die. Cognitive thought is a process of a living brain. So is memory, sensation and perception, etc. These things cannot exist apart from a living brain. Once you die you have no more capacity for thought, memory, sight, hearing. Once you accept this and start living a meaningful, satisfactory life, based fully in reality, you will lose your fear of death.

No one knows. Period.

Some religions believe in heaven and hell. Some believe it will be like this life. Some believe you rest and then reincarnate. Some believe that you simply no longer exist. Some believe that your energy rejoins the Creator.

It is the greatest adventure left to each of us.

After you die, you begin to decompose. Unless you are cremated, in which case you combust. That's pretty much it so far as any of us know.

Anything beyond that would be a guess for which there is no real evidence.

That is the mystery that we can never know. The best that we can do is believe what comforts you the most.
