I normally don't judge or sterotype; but I got new "scene" hair. It's a bob cut and it falls about 3/4 of an inch past my shoulders. I has dozens of layers that makes it wavy and hard to keep straight no matter how many hair products I use. I DO straighten my hair, but it still turns wavy and flippy by 2nd period. I have to gel it every passing and it still doesnt hold. Maybe I should cut it shorter so it doesnt flip on my shoulders; or maybe thin it out with some more layers? Sould I get a better straightner? Hair cement instead of gel? Please help!

Uhhm Well i was at my hair stylist last weekend and i discovered something..
I usually have the same problem, my hair flips and curls instantly (naturally wavy hair =[ )

So anyways i noticed that the guy had kinda straightened my hair with the blowdry first. He used this kinda brush

and just used it to stretch my hair and make it uncurly. So then he just had to straighten a few parts of my hair for a couple of seconds and my hair was perfectly straight (it usually takes me half hour to straighten my hair, whereas it took him like a minute!)

So basically, its all about the blowdrier =)

I've had this same problem with every haircut that fell pass my shoulders. I've tried everything and even when I have it professionally done and it looks great, when I leave the salon it doesn't take long before the ends flip up. I would either cut it shorter than shoulder length or go a little longer so it's too long to flip. Good luck.

My hair is the same exact way! I used to use a crappy like $20 straightner from Target but it never worked. Now I use a straighter called a Chi and it always works no matter the weather or my physical activity and it stays straight until I take my next shower. It is kind of expensive but in the end it is tottaly worth it because your hair doesnt appear oily or greasy from products (because you dont need any) and you feel 20x better about yourself because you KNOW your hair looks good :)

Good luck!

invest in an expensive hair straightener. My friends hair is stiff. She cannot curl/straight it no matter how much product she puts in it. But wen she came over and I straighten her hair with my straightener that cost lik 200$ it straighten her hair and it stayed straight all day too (without any product)
