To much furniture and clutter can make even a big room look small. In a small room it's even more important to keep the clutter under control.

It can be hard to do but you'll have to get rid of some stuff. Things that you don't use on a daily basis shouldn't be out on shelves - except maybe for a few favorite chachkies. Clean out your closet and either store away or get rid of things that you don't wear at least once a month. Store you seasonal clothes. A closet organizing system can help a lot. Raise your bed up and store stuff underneath it.

portray vertical stripes or unbelievable floor to ceiling drapes will intensify the top of the room and make the ceilings seem to be bigger for this reason making the room sense bigger. on the different hand, horizontal stripes will make a room look longer or wider. you additionally can create an visual charm of extra area by using taking away as plenty muddle as conceivable as empty area provides the visual charm that a room is larger as antagonistic to a room finished of little products. additionally think regarding the size of your furnishings, besides the fact that if that's small it will make your room look awkward. share is the considerable. If each and every thing works to jointly (scale clever) you've gotten a balanced room and could then be waiting to create a focal element that has genuine result.

What you should do is, throw out everything that you don't want. Clear out all the boxxes and junk. If you have big furniture, and you don't want it, sell it. Then buy some new small furniture. Paint the wall like a baige or a light color to make it look bigger and wider. You should only have the things that are important to you. Don't need alot of junk in the room.

my roommate and i moved in, each with a ton of stuff that we will need when we have our own apartments, but don't need doubles of. she had the brillant idea of placing her bed on bricks. (cinder blocks, or some places have blocks specifically for this)

she then had room for storage totes, or canvas baskets, or cubbies that they use for nuts and bolts whatever else they use for mechanics or woodworking (she uses it for jewelry, makeup, nail clippers, all the little stuff that lays around)

a few months later i did the same thing and it freed up so much space. (i should mention we both have traditional bed, mattress, box spring, frame)

next place your bed in the center of the room so you can pull storage from every direction (sides and foot, if you don't have a footboard.

leave the blinds open as much as possible, if you live on the first floor, point up to the inside, if you live on the second floor pointing down to the inside. natural light will make it look bigger.

tall narrow shelving instead of bedside tables will pull the room UP! and give you room to place rarely used objects at the top, and frequently used items in arms reach.

if you can't paint the room, try a striped bed cover, it will enlongate the bed making the whole room look longer.

the best advice is to declutterize. everything has a place, everything in it's place. decorative storage boxes stacked for seasonal clothing or projects, a closet organizer can work wonders.

you have to determine how much you want to spend to clean it up, versus how long you're going to be there.

I would paint it a light color....ceiling and all. That will make the entire room feel bigger. Can you get some organizers in your closet so that you don't have extra dressers in the room? Try to get everything thing in the closet that isn't you bed.

Use light colors. I'd also try some little knick knacks that are colorful.
