I feel like i have a fever, but I am not sure if it is my medication causing it. I have a digital themometer and i took my temp orally. It cam out with a 97.1. But when I took my temp rectally it cam out with 100.4. I am not sure which one to trust. I have used three different themometers and all the same readings. If anyone knows which is better to trust please let me know. I am not sure if i need to go to the docotr or not. Thanks

When taking the temp under the arm you have to add a degree to the reading. . . skin temp is cooler.
When taking the temp in the rectum you have to subtract a degree to the reading. . . body is hotter.
Taking the temp in the mouth (provided you haven't eaten something hot or cold or have smoked a cigarette within 5 minutes) is the correct temp. Nothing to add or subtract.

Temperature varies depending on where you put the thermometer. It's normal that your rectal temperature is higher. I myself use the traditional thermometers that you hold in your armpit.
