Well just in the bible there was 2,270,365 (approx) killed
Then over 100 million people have been killed by the Romans and Catholic Church.
The early Protestant Churches slaughtered entire villages during the "Reformation" "in the name of god". The Muslims have killed millions.
Humanism, under Stalin, Mao and Machiavelli killed even more. Approx 6 million Jews exterminated during the Holocaust.

**thomaslongjjr....war in the name of god does not prove that there is a god. that just proves that there are people willing to kill to prove that their beliefs are right and that everyone should believe the same thing....and that there are people that are willing to die for their freedom to believe what they want to.
And then you always have the witch hunts, French Wars of Religion, the Reconquista, Milhemet Mitzvah.

I would hazzard a guess of hundreds of millions. Considering all the sacrificial killings, the crusades, the inquisitions, the Arab / Jew / German conflicts, the tribal religious wars, The communist / religious persecusions in China and Russia and also the Irish / British conflict using the Protestant / Catholic vehicle to prolong that issue.
I hope........ but 2010 will not be the magic year whereby all persecusion of religious differences will disappear. As long as 2 men are still alive.........................

At least the 6 million Jews exterminated during the Holocaust. Then add the Crusades, witch hunts, and most of Jesus' disciples on top of many others persecuted for their religion and I think you'll have a sizable number.

i have a better question? how many people died because evil people encouraged religious people to believe in a lie? and then created a religious war.
All wars are not created because of religion but because of evil people.
and for the sake of chrisitanity, it was Rome that burned thousands of innocent people first.

I have a question , too. If, as you have said, that most wars have been fought due to religion,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,then does that not prove that there must be a God of some type, somewhere??
Somebody, some where , must be correct.
