I have booted with a windows 98 boot disc, but when i insert the 'Windows' disc to reinstall the OP it says 'General failure reading drive'. Any ideas?

You do not have a compatible CDROM Driver on the bootdisk. Go here for a never fails driver (OAKCDROM.SYS):

1.call the company that made your computer
2.call Microsoft
3.buy a new computer
