Great question. If I could have given it 15 stars, I would have.
Religion has never been the real basis for war or violence. It has only been an excuse.
Only those who understand that their religion has nothing to do with Earthly power or control will understand what you are saying here.

What exactly are you implying?... Those of the True Christian faith are indeed willing to die rather than be forced to live against The Faith... But there would be no purpose in "dying for The Faith"... what do you mean by "wouldn't practice it to save their life"?

Well sweetie the fact that out of all the religions in this world you picked Christianity? I think that says a lot right there. People make the grave mistake of thinking that people who say they are "Christians" who shout around in church, who scream at the top of their lungs, and make the biggest rousse on Sundays are Christians, which just isn't true. God says those who love me obey my commandments, that is the one and true sign of a believer we don't have to make our voice the loudest, but our lights have to be the brightest. Don't get me wrong we make mistakes just like everyone else, no one perfect except for Jesus himself. So we're not going to do the right thing 100% of the time. Unlike the rest of the world we admit that we are nothing without God and that we are guilty of our sins. He helps us fromt here. So don't assume that just because people go to church and sometimes read their Bible that they are Christians, they were deemed by the world but not by God. So don't get us confused with them. Christianity is the most abused religion in the world. If there is no threat why waste your time?

Because if they lived what their faith practiced there wouldn't be an occasion to die for it. People would end up killing them before they had the chance.

Some people want to have a faith in a higher power and practice their faith the way they want to practice it, but not in the same way an organized church or religion would.

People like to pick and choose what they want to practice. They stick to the easy stuff, like dying for your faith instead of living for it. It makes them feel important and like they're better then the rest of us. It isn't just christians, they just get the most attention in America. Anything taken to an extreme is bad.

I practice it but have to say that I have not yet been confronted with having to make the decision to die for my faith. I hope that I would.

That reminds me of a scene from Babylon 5, Legends of the Rangers I believe.
A Ranger captain refuses to pursue a combat he cannot win. The Grey Council ponders removing him from the rangers, but G'Kar, a wise and spiritual person barges in on the deliberations... "We live for the one, we die for the one.... funny how you put the emphasis on the second part of it."

The idea is that if you don't practice your faith, than you certainly wouldn't die for it...you'd just say you would.
