Not as Far as I know, when the company I work for modernise kitchens we often put the Hob & Oven next to the sink, of couse you have to make shure that any electrics are over an arms lenth away from the sink thats if it's an electric hob. If it's a gas hob then you have only the ignition c able to worry about. But as I said the rule of thumb is to have any socket/swiich at just over an arms lenght away from the sink. It is always recommended in the kitchen trade that your hob should be placed at least 750mm away from a sink, never placed under a window or by an entrance door. Kitchen designer

Recommendation of 300mm.
Not least it's best to have somewhere immediately adjacent to the hob that you can move boilng-over pans to safely and quickly.

Best to have at least a small work surface between the two.
