It is usually best to wait,
till she is between 2 --3 years old
before you breed., from a female dog
By that time,
they will be in their prime and really, fit to whelp
And should produce healthy well developed puppies

You do not say ,if you are a pedigree breeder
or just want her, to have puppy's .
It is always a good plan to take her to the vet ,
for a complete health check and any advice he / she will give you on the breeding .

There are many ,( far too many ) abandoned puppies ,
originally pets ,
whose owners ,became tired of them ,
and do not really want, 'the trouble' to raise them

so they get dumped , for the various rescue charities ,
to look after . and re home or sometimes they are destroyed .

Bottom line;
do not breed, unless, you have really good homes, ready, for them to go to at 8+ weeks .

all best

The female does not become fully developed until the age of 2 years old. It's best to wait till then to breed. Breeding is a very big responsibility, and requires alot of education on the subject, if you want to do it correctly. It is very expensive and time consuming. It is a beautiful experience, but only if you know exactly what you are doing. There are so many dogs out there already, that need homes, and can't find one.

Dogs do not have "periods".

You need to skip the first heat as she is far too young. Females should not be bred until they are at least 2 years old.

This gives you plenty of time to educate yourself on proper, ethical breeding. Until you've done so, do not even consider it.

no, but how old is she, if she is too young she won't catch the first heat. When you do breed her, count her days from the first day of bleeding (different for each breed f dog) to time of ovulation, breed - wait one day -breed - wait one day - breed. This give you 3 breeding's with a day in-be-tween. Male are not potent for 24 hrs after breeding. Before you breed please make sure both animal are healthy and up-to-date with vaccinations. You will have better pups.
