the worst excuse i've heard for someone not being able to get to work is the train got a puncture,whats yours

I was a recruitment consultant and we heard all sorts from temps (especially on a Monday hmmmm) but the worst excuse was a guy phoning in to say he had been bitten by a poisonous snake and couldn't get to work because he couldn't ride his bike. He lived in Reading - don't know how many poisonous snakes live there. Also - this is a bit bad. There was a guy who rang to say he couldn't go to work because his grandmother had died. Problem is he kept using the same excuse almost every week - he must have had about 7 grandmothers by the time he had finished. (very bad).

FUNNY, but I have not had a need to make an excuse as to why I was not at work.
If I was late or missed a day then I just tell the truth and it staggers most bosses.

i work for a main office of a furniture store and we were actually talking about this today. there are some girls who work in the actual store who will keep track of the hours they stay late to close and what not and will take a day off because they say that they have already worked those ours at other times.

I once had someone put a time sheet in and they were trying to claim paid time off for taking their dog to the vets!

I was once told that they had a power cut so their alarm didnt go off and that is why they overslept. What a crock
