It is good to have your college expose you to all kinds of experiences, including knowledge of the close-minded bigotry and religious fanaticism present in our society. For sure you will encounter more of this after you graduate and so it is good that your college isn't insulating you from dealing with human irrationality.

Well as a Christian I don't agree with what he did, in the Bible it says blessed are the peacemakers. He didn't come there to witness to you and tell you about the Gospel but instead to cause trouble. Do I agree with homosexuality no, I had a couple of gay associates and once they asked me what I believed in I told them that God is not pleased about it and that he hates it and after that we never had a problem, once they heard it once then that was enough I didn't feel the need to continually drum it into their heads they know they're gay. Sometimes people find it hard when they are confronted with the truth, the man who came to your campus wasn't a child of God but merely just some person who is under the delusion that they are doing God's will when in actuality they are only paving their way slowly to hell. He's talking to people that he doesn't know, and you called you guys whores? The God I serve doesn't tolerate people like that, nor does he want you to hold it against them what they do because he has nothing to do with them. Anytime someone comes preaching anything other than the Gospel of Jesus, then they are not his child and you must ignore them, because they can make your perception jaded and mess you up if you listen to them. Just like in the days of oppression, the "Whites" or "slave owners" believed that they were doing God's will by enslaving us "blacks". That we were animals but that still didn't stop "them" from sleeping with "us", and making "us" breast feed "their" wives why "they" were out doing God knows what.

Holy Cow! Are these speakers invited, or do they ask to come out, and get assigned a time slot to do thier thing? I would complain to the campus administration about them allowing someone to come there and say abusive things to the students, calling them whores and stuff??/ Yikes and if he needs 2 cops to protect him, and if that is not the normal procedure for the other speakers, there must be a good reason why....this was not a "discussion" you don't need cops for a "discussion", and a "discussion" is generally in two directions.
I don't care what he was talking about, if that's the way he was talking he was assaulting the students, not teaching them.
Name wouldn't happen to be Phelps, would it, he sounds like a Phelps...

Well freedom of speech is a right in this country! I don't think he was trying to condemn anyone, but if he sounded opinionated more than anything, and if he claimed to be a Christian, yet quoted no scripture, he doesn't sound like much of a Christian to me. I don't know exactly what was said, but if you feel the Lord tugging at your heart about this situation, then just do some of your own research about the Bible and see for yourself what God says about the things that you heard today. You can't let anyone tell you how and what to believe, you have to do your own soul searching and apply the Bible to your own life. If you are sincere in prayer about God's word, he will show you the truth. I hope this helped.

Honestly if our government believed that then it would b mandatory for people to follow the bible but it's not is it?bcuz it is a book for people to or not to believe it's our choice. For some it is something they need cuz following there own set of rules was hurting people or themselves or they just don't no how to depend on themselves so they turn to god n bible to follow. For some it works n others it doesn't.This doesn't mean that following god is for them .It also doesn't mean that anyone is wrong or right about who or what they follow. As long as u r the best person u can be then to me that is all that matters.Sex b4 marriage does not make u a hoe.Gay does not mean u r bad.People should learn to keep there ignorance to themselves and stop judging people just cuz they don't follow or believe what they do.

Sounds like you had a visit from a religious zealot. With any belief, being religious or not there are always some that take their beliefs to the absolute edge of reality. Catholicism does not believe in premarital sex, but catholics like myself understand that it is a fact of modern life, and would never call a group of young woman whores. I would discourage the practice in a one on one conversation, and still would not cast judgment. The basis of Christianity to me is to teach others about my religion without being intrusive, forgive those who wish to be forgiven, and never judge others lest you be judged. Only God has the right to make judgment. Take the speaker for what he was, a fanatical Christan who has twisted the scriptures to benefit his beliefs and lifestyle.

I know most people on this forum won't believe me, but that is not what Christianity is about. I get so tired of the "you're all going to hell" sermon from Christians. If we would just read our Bibles and try to actually imitate Christ then there would be a lot less confusion and hate towards Christianity.

I guess I could be considered a religious person, but this person was going way over the line. Everyone believes their own things, and I don't think it's right to try to push your beliefs on anyone else or to accuse people of being sinful or not. All I can say is ignore this person when he rambles on because really that's all you can do. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing huh? *(sarcasm)

Well, how do you personally feel about religion? The way you wrote this as if he was calling everyone an atheist including himself. I feel everyone has the right to be what ever religion they are comfortable with, I grew up in a southern babtist home, as I got older, I was more comfortable with the Islam religion. I went to my public library to search islamic literature and discovered many "christian bibles" and only one "Qur'an", the Islam holy book. It's just a matter of how you feel.

I can NOT make a final judgment of that guy as I would rather have been there to see for myself. BUT, you might want to know that there are many, many, many FALSE believers out there. They are the reason that so few people believe in God , anymore.
Also, I suspect, he was given a fee for speaking.
PS, you can judge , that is common sense to do so.
The bible states that a spiritual man judges ALL things.
