Vancouver for weather, scenery, and fine local wines. But a lot of the NY-style arts screne is not [yet] there.
Toronto for NYCish business and theatre and other NY-style living in a cosmopolitan and multi-cultural (actually more multi-cultural than NYC or LA) metropolis. Probably the easiest place to get a job in your field.
Montreal if you can also communicate in French. Just as cosmopolitan (in some facets more) as Toronto, more NYC-ish intellectual and political than as Toronto, also multicultural, though a bit less than Toronto or NYC, like NYC an influential Jewish community and the Montréal bagels and pastrami are actually better (really!) though the mustard served worse, than in NYC.

First factor of clarification Canada is the 2d best usa interior the international. 2d in basic terms to Russia. There are 2 substantial mountain stages. One on the west the place the iciness olympics would be held in 2012 (Vancouver) and have been held in 1988 (Calgary). The 800 Kms between those 2 cities is a non-end ski hotel (a minimum of it form of feels that way). As you progression East you bypass 1500 KMs of prairie (the biggest grass land interior the international). you at the instant are halfway around the rustic and have not seen something yet. the subsequent one thousand Km is the biggest substitute you will bypass by between the worlds best forests until eventually you come back to the inhabitants centre of the rustic. Southern Ontario has 40% of the rustic's inhabitants and that is best city is the international's maximum cosmopolitan city. 50% of the folk living in Toronto show their unique language as some thing different than English. Toronto is the 2d best Italian city after Rome. the subsequent Province is Quebec it incredibly is greater often than not French conversing and the region of the different mountain selection. Montreal the biggest city in Quebc is the 2d best French conversing city interior the international next to Paris. The reamaining 4 provinces are called the maritimes and are incredibly on the Atlantic Ocean. the folk in those 4 provinces are between the friendliest people interior the international. what's the final place to stay in Canada. everywhere is the respond.. yet i'm biased. I stay in rural Southern Ontario. I certainly have 15 golfing classes interior of a fifteen minute force of my abode . i'm 10 minutes from international classification fishing. i'm a 2 hour practice journey from Downtown Toronto and international classification eating and appealing. I certainly have a small ski hill 20 minutes from abode. What greater ought to i prefer

I've been to Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver and my favorite is Vancouver. It's a beautiful location on the pacific coast and it's close to the US (Seattle) if you have to go there for some reason. The scenery is beautiful and there are lots of activities, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, close to skiing, boating, etc. It has a laid back outdoors type of feeling unlike Montreal where the French speaking locals are not very welcoming. Go for a visit and take a city tour and then you can check out areas you are interested in. Also, I forgot to mention Stanley Park (WOW) and Granville Island (Great farmers market and lots of art gallerys). If I could I would move there.

Well, if you're looking for a city that's similar to NYC, Toronto would be a good bet, but the crime statistics are VERY high. I'd say Montreal is one of the best cities in the world, and Ottawa comes a close second!

Toronto would best suit your needs. Althoigh smaller than New York, it is the Canadian city which would most be like your current home. The weather is virtually the same (there's a lake instead of an ocean), they speak english there and it would offer you all the variety of life you have in NYC. OF course, since it is Canada, there will be no red, white and blue flags draped of every building and people will say eh a lot. Suggest you start watching Second City TV DVDs and King of Kensington reruns so you can fit right in.

If you love and play ice hockey, then you need to live in the meca of Ice Hockey ---- Montreal!!!
The best city in Canada by far.
Very cosmopolitain city, with a great European flair and diverse cultures.
Although french is the main language here, english in the city is spoken by most. It may become a problem when venturing more than 100 km of the city.
If you are male - then Montreal is known for the most beautiful women in the world
If you are female - Montreal men are so charming!

To be honest with you. I've lived in Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver and I don't think either of those cities are comparable to NYC. However, those Canadian cities are great places to live and you'll enjoy the freedom.

I currently live in the NYC Metro Area, but I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta.
I highly recommend a move to Calgary!
Calgary has a booming economy thanks in part to Alberta's Oil Fields, Alberta Beef (the finest in North America, puts Black Angus to shame!!) and a fantastic Travel and Tourism business.
Calgary has a vast arts & theatre culture as well as a very active sports culture.
Home of the Calgary Flames (NHL), Calgary Hitmen (WHL), Calgary Royals (Jr. Hockey) and MANY MANY community rinks and plenty of opportunity for pick-up or "shinny" hockey.
