Some things that are only theories:

Germ Theory: microorganisms cause disease

Quantum Theory: electrons, protons, and neutrons exist.

These may be mere theories, but we have based vaccines and batteries on them. Should I stop believing in vaccines and batteries because these are just theories?

These

Gorgeous: Actually both are considered theories, but theory within the scientific community just means that there could be evidence to the contrary that emerges someday although to date none has.

A theory is a former hypothesis which has enought facts and hard proof that the scientific community accepts it as the most likely answer (hypothesis to theory). Therefore gravity, relativity, evolution and much much more are theories as we understand them and have plenty of proof but we do not have a whole understanding of the subject.

I don't jump out the 10th story window and stop believing in gravity because nobody has yet found a proof for any of its theories. Would you?

A theory by definition is a hypothesis that has been proven true. It then makes it to the status of scientific theory, which is a proven fact. It is, in essence, true.

Some people get confused and call something a a theory when it isn't, like evolution. So you should believe in a theory because it is showing you a truth. But don't accept everything just because it has "theory" attached to it, because science can hang itself.

I believe in gravity because I can see it is so. But there are lots of ideas about what causes gravity, but nobody has proven them true. No theories yet, just hypotheses. Gravity is an axiom - a self evident truth. I accept that.

You forgot that gravity is a theory; a theory that explains why stuff falls to the ground.

Lots of 'em... Ya missed gravity, field and set. And these what?

Correct me if I am wrong but germs are NOT a theory! Just like evolution is NOT a theory. When you have proof, it is not a theory.

Do what you want. I think you're fully aware of the difference, but hey, some people are here just to try to pry others away from their faith. Guess thats how you get your jollies. Gotta feel bad for you, being so insecure and lonely this is how you spend your time.

Too bad creationists don't, lets see how their prayer stands up to medical science.
