Sweetie, you bet the guy who did that to your friend can and should be arrested for manslaughter and the sooner you get a hold of the police the sooner the killer can be arrested and charged.
Go for it and God bless you for loving your friend as you did and still do.
If you don't he could get away with it and that too would be another crime.
I am so sorry to hear about your dear friend passing from what this other person did to him but justice will win out.

It depends on whether it was lawful or unlawful for the person who hit him to have done so. If he attacked the other guy and the other guy defended himself, then no, the other guy did nothing wrong. But if the other guy hit him first, and with no provocation or verbal only, then yes, he committed battery, which is a crime. I don't know how much more serious it is because the victim died (which I'm sorry for your loss), but it might be all the way up to manslaughter, which is a serious felony. Certainly the police should be notified.

Were there any witnesses to the fight between your friend and the one who hit him?If you think his death was a direct result of an injury which was sustained during the fight then my advice to you is to tell the police about it.There should be an autopsy to determine the cause of death but in some cases where it is decided the person died of natural causes there might not be an autopsy. So if you want to know if he died because of the blows to his face during the fight then tell the police about it and if you know his family members and they don't already know about the fight maybe you might concider telling them about it too.And yes, the person if found responsible for your friends death will be held accountable for it and will most likely face criminal charges.

First answer gets it. And I'm sorry about your friend. I actually know a guy who did 5 years for this same thing, but I don't recall the specific charge. He beat some guy's a** at a frat party, and the guy died in his sleep later that same way.

Very likely, if the autopsy can show that the attack was the cause of death.
As for the potential crime, it would depend on the situation and the intent. A mutual brawl between the two would be grounds for involuntary manslaugher, while an unprovoked attack could be murder.
