I prefer not to be called. I do very technical work (computer programming) and it takes my whole brain. When I'm way deep into a task, and I get a personal call, I'm not all there for them. My whole family notices it. I've ended up having some pretty bad conversations, too, because my mind is fully occupied elsewhere, and the tone of my voice and wording made them think I was in a bad mood or angry with them. It takes a few minutes to "come up for air" when I'm way deep into the work like that. And of course, the interruption requires that I spend more time getting back into the task after the call.

So, I prefer not to be called at work. That way I can concentrate fully on my work. Later, when my mind is free, I can talk to everyone and be normal.

once in a blue moon is OK and if its a real emergency OK .
i knew this really nice man who had a job at Honda one of the car plants he was new on probation so to speak . i had worked with him at another place then we both ended up at Honda . anyway his wife was huge fat lazy hypochondriac and at the first place he got in trouble for her daily or more then daily emergency calls. at Honda he was warned repeatedly to have her stop calling claiming she was so sick or the baby was ill all crazy stuff that he bought into . well he got fired from what would have been the best job he could ever have had.
so no i don't want personal calls at work unless its my birthday or someone is dying.
