Most biblical scholars suggest that Matthew and Luke used Mark and another source, which they call "Q", in the composition of their Gospels.

Is this a problem for you? Does this conflict with any of your theology?

Most "non Catholic biblical 'scholars' " is more like it.

I don't have a "problem" with it - it's a theory.

Personally, I prefer more traditional analysis of the external evidence, that of the Augustinian hypothesis, in which the chronological order of the gospels is the same as the canonical order (Matt, Mark, Luke).

It really does not matter to me. The canonical Gospels were approved by the Church, the Body of Christ. That's all that really matters.

You know, I have heard about the debate, but I don't know enough about it to comment on it. I think that you'll find that most Christians are the same. It's not at the forefront especially for most of us when it comes to our life of faith in God. There is simply too much personal evidence in favor of God's prescence that makes the debate trivial. It would be like putting an extra rearview mirror on a boat. The boat is already in the water and moving rapidly, better than anything else on the water, so why install a rearview mirror when the finishline is just ahead???

If you have a site that talks about it rationally, I would welcome an e-mail on it.

Thanks.

The Q source is just a guess by people who don't wish to accept the idea that the Gospels were written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and so would NATURALLY have similarities. They can believe what they want. Liberals generally don't bother me at all.

no. that's no problem .. what they say doesnt effect my theology at all.

[reflecting my thoughts]
excerpt: "Not all biblical scholars believe the Bible, but those of us who do would say that the Gospel authors only wrote down what really happened in Jesus' life."..
