Soaking the bottles in warm vinegar (a little bit of dish washing liquid in there might help) does a pretty good job. Scour the labels with a fork to the vinegar can reach the adhesive. If the vinegar doesn't work, there are two products on the market that work very well: Goo Gone and Goof Off. Goo Gone is gentler and works on most jobs, but Goof Off may be needed for more stubborn adhesive. Try scouring the label, applying the product, letting it sit for 15 minutes, then scraping it off with a butter knife or something similar.

He is referred to as 'Golly'. I recently sold a badge to an Australian for £30.

The character still appears but his appearance has changed.
