I have a driving license (not G yet) since October 2005. I bought a brand new car in August 2006 and had an accident in a parking lot (I pressed gas instead of break and hit a wall). The damage was huge - around $6,000. My insurance company called me today and told me that they can't renew my policy with them due to the accident, and because I've been driving less than 4 yrs and don't have a G license yet. What can I do? Change an insurance company? Sell the car and buy old junk for now? Please help! Thanks :)

I'm in Canada and G license is the final license you can get. First you get G1, then G2 then G. I have G2 right now. I am 28 yrs old. I can drive anywhere I want, incl. highway. To get a G license I have to pass one more road test which is done on the highway. I hope this helps.

You didn't mention how old you are, and I don't understand the reference to a "G" license, so maybe I'm missing something.

Anyway, the idea of auto insurance isn't to shop the best price twice a year, the idea is to get with a quality insurer, and stay with them for as long as possible.

All insurers play leap-frog with their prices, because they trade places having good years and bad years. Their rates go up, their rates go down.

Your insurer dropped you because of their "loss experience" with you. You hadn't been with them long enough for them to determine if you would be a long-term good risk for them. All they saw was an at-fault loss in a short term policy with no basis for determining loyalty on your part, so you're out-a-there!

We've been with the same insurer for 37 years. We had a bad year last year, but never had anything else (except for a stolen car). They didn't send us a dear john letter because they know we're good for the long haul and they'll turn a profit on us eventually.

That's always the bottom line . . . follow the money.

Well get what you can get for the car. You might be best driving an older car for now since your insurance rates are going to go up. As far as being insured look around and try to find a new company.....most major companies(state farm, geico, nationwide) they all will give you quotes online for what your rate would be with them. Good luck getting everything straightened out.

I guess you are going to have to shop around for a new insurance company. I'm sorry, I don't know what a G license is. Are you under 21? You may have to learn to take a bus for awhile.

I do not know what a ''G'' license is but the phone book has lots of insurance companies. I am sure you can find one. Plus a lot advertise that they insure ''at risk drivers'' I am not saying that is what you are, just making a point.

your best bet is to look around and get multiple insurance quotes.
