I'm not familiar with Galaxy chocolate, but the chocolate that is most toxic to dogs is darker chocolate, that have the highest concentration of cocoa. (Baker's chocolate for instance.) If it is milk chocolate he should be ok, because he is such a large dog. He should be able to handle it. He might feel crappy, watch to see if he is eating and drinking normally, if not, and/or has severe diarreah, I'd take him to the vet to be safe.

That is quite a bit of chocolate for him to have eaten, so thank god he is a large dog - The poison that is in chocolate is called theobromine, and in large enough quantites can be fatal. The main symptoms include vomiting, increased thirst and diarrhoea. If this is all he has, then he has a good chance of recovery. If he has these symptoms and seems unwell in himself, get him to a vet for treatment as he could become very dehydrated and may need to be put onto a drip.
If eaten in large enough quantities, chocolate can make a dog go into a coma or have convulsions and this can lead to death. So keep a very close eye on him and phone the vet if necessary.

Since he ate it 48 hours ago he'll probably be alright, but to be on the safe side I'd recommend phoning your vet and explaining. They might just say keep an eye on him as you've been doing but they may get you to being him in so they can run blood tests or give him something to settle his stomach. At least he's not eaten cooking chocolate though, which is the most toxic type of chocolate.
I found the following on a veterinary page:
'The official LD50 (a measure of the toxicity of a product) of theobromine in dogs is 240-500 mg/kg body weight of the animal. But there is a report of a dog dying after eating only 114 mg/kg body weight. Milk chocolate contains about 1.5mg theobromine per gram, and unsweetened baking chocolate contains upto 15mg per gram. So potentially toxic levels can be reached in a 10kg dog by eating only 2.2oz (63grams) of unsweetened cooking chocolate, or 23.5 oz (1.5lb or 670 grams) of milk chocolate.'

My 14 mth old puppy ate 1/2 mars bar last month and started vomiting and had really bad s***s !! I took him to the vets and he was given some anti-biotics to settle his stomach and he has been fine since, but the dogs brother (which my friend owns, eats chocolate all the time and he is fine, (fat but fine) so I think each dog reacts different, id get him checked over just in case.

We had a jack russell that stole a big bar of chocolate. She was violently sick and had to be taken to the vet where they kept her for a fews days. She damaged her liver from it and had to be on a special hepatic diet for the rest of her life.
Granted she did live till 16 but still I'd be careful as just because they seem ok doesn't always mean they are!

chocolate is poisonous to dogs. It contains a substance called theobromine this is the poison. Dark chocolate is really dangerous. Dont leave things like this where the dog can get it. Train your dog not to steal food. Hopefully after 48hrs he will be ok. A phonecall to the vets won't go wrong.

Choclate is far from good for a dog. Your dogs stomache may be getting tore up if it is making weird noises 48 hrs later. To be safe you should get him checked out. I have known some dogs to die from eating choclate. Its a good thing your dog didnt get ahold of much more. But really, take him to the vet so his insides will be okay.

My dog had a few HUGE chocolate problems when he was a pup and still does. He at a whole tray of brownies, (no problems) Hershey kisses, (no problems except for some little foil wrappers when he did poop) and some Valentines Day candy. (no problems)
The point is, my dog has a HUGE sweet tooth. (and I know where he gets it! ) =) He didn't have any problems, but, just to be safe, take him to a vet. Or at least call them. You may not need an appointment.
Good Luck and tell your dog to stay away from those chocolates!
Sometimes, they can die, so yes, take him to a vet or call the vet.
